Certification Demeter

In 2016, BioGascogne decided to commence biodynamic (DEMETER) farming on some of its farms. We currently have 600 hectares certified as biodynamic. In 2017, 4 more farms will be certified making a total of 1,000 ha. Our vineyard (60 ha) is also managed on biodynamic principles. In order to be independent and to have a faster response capability, we have constructed a mobile dynamisation station capable of treating 100 ha.

What is biodynamic agriculture ?

As with organic agriculture, there is no use of chemicals (phytosanitary or fertiliser} or use of genetically modified crops and the avoidance of intensive farming.

Biodynamic agriculture is a method of organic farming which considers that quality food can only be produced on a healthy soil.

The massive use of chemicals in agriculture over several decades has impoverished the quality of soils and plants.

By promoting greater biodiversity of soils and enhancing plant health, biodynamics is a sustainable agriculture par excellence.
